Martin has been a Clapham Park councillor since 2022 and was previously Brixton Hill councillor since 2013. He grew up in Croydon and was a Croydon Councillor. He lives in Clapham Park on New Park Road and worked in the co-operative movement for a decade. He was previously Chair of the Labour Environment Campaign, campaigning on climate change and cycling issues among others. On the Council he is Chair of Corporate Committee.
